7 WAYS TO TEACH KIDS ABOUT ENVIRONMENT SUSTAINABILITY

  1. Lead by example: When it comes to teaching kids anything, it should always be “do as I do” and not just “do as I say.” Ensure you are living out all you teach them about environmental sustainability.
  2. Make it fun: Be descriptive, use colours, animal characters and other fun examples to help the kids imagine and create pictures in their minds.
  3. Get your kids involved in what you’re doing: A great way to learn is by practising. Get your kids involved in your efforts towards environmental sustainability. Let them water plants, sort clothes, or do other stuff within their capabilities.
  4. Volunteer with your kids: Let volunteering be a family event as much as possible. Kids also have services they can offer as volunteers.
  5. Beware of student overload: Don’t teach too much at once. It can make the entire subject exasperating.
  6. Avoid doom and gloom: Remember that kids are very imaginative so be careful not to paint a picture of doom and apocalypse when teaching them about environmental sustainability.
  7. Focus on quality of life issues: Make kids aware that life is not just merely about existing but also about thriving in this existence by living out the best possible practices.
